The national breast cancer charity event Making Strides Against Breast Cancer is coming to Winona on Saturday, October 13th.
                
The event will feature a 3.7 mile walk around East Lake Winona and participants will honor survivors and raise awareness.

Local Co-Chair Jenny Bushman says this will be the second year for the walk locally and all of the funds raised will stay here in Winona County.

Bushman says you can sign up the morning of the event or online ahead of time at ‘’makingstrides.acsevents.org.’’ Bushman says even if you don’t walk, stop by and cheer on the participants and help raise awareness to the cause.

The American Cancer Society sponsored event begins with registration  at Lake Winona-Unity Park starting at 9:00 a,m, with the Opening Ceremony set for 10:30 a.m. and the walk to follow.

Last year the event raised about 19-thousand dollars and featured over 300 walkers.
