Safe Haven Grant

Winona County Commissioners have accepted a 388-thousand dollar grant that will enable children who are victims of violence to have a safe place to go.

The Safe Havens Safe Exchange grant from the federal Justice Department will enable the Safe Haven to be established at the Family and Children's Center of Winona.

Spokesperson Justin Green said the grant will also allow the creation of a safe place for supervised children exchanges between parents who are no longer together.

The grant will last three  years and the funds will be managed by Winona County which will provide no funds of it own.

The Family and Children'Center will operate the program in partnership with Winona Women's Resource Center....
