Quist-Winona

First District Congressional candidate Allen Quist visited Winona Tuesday to refute a claim by incumbent Democrat Tim Walz during their debate September 27th in Byron and to talk issues.

Quist denied ever making any statements regarding wanting to cut veteran benefits and called for Walz to apologize and and to correct his statement.

In regards to the Minnesota Marriage Amendment that will be on the ballot in November, Quist, despite making it public he supports the amendement, says government should have no role in who gets married.

Quist says bills pending in Congress that would nationalize health care by setting up mandatory insurance purchases and fines for not complying could penalize married couples $10,000 annually, causing the divorce rate, already at 50-percent, to skyrocket.

Quist and Walz will debate for 90 minutes October 9th in Mankato. Quist says Walz cancelled the third scheduled debate they had previously agrred on.
