Perkins Theft

Winona Police are looking for a suspect who pulled off an unusual theft at Perkins Restaurant early Thursday morning.

Deputy Police Chief Tom Williams said the restaurant received a call about 2:00 a.m. and the voice on the other end advised them to check a utility room for broken water pipes.  After employees discovered nothing wrong and were returning to the restaurant, a person was spotted fleeing with a cash register drawer out the door.

Williams said the suspect was seen running away from the restaurant with the drawer in hand.  The drawer contained an unknown amount of cash.

Williams said the only description police received was that the person was wearing a hooded jacket and was about 5 feet 11 inches tall with a thin build.  The witnesses could not determine if the suspect was male or female.
