Buffalo County Administrator

Buffalo County Board Chairman Del Twidt of Waumandee wants the county board to vote again on a proposal to hire a full-time administrative coordinator.

The proposal was adopted and sent on to the Buffalo County Board without dissent and discussion by the board's finance committee. It goes to the full county board on Tuesday.

The county board 10 to 1 in April voted down hiring of a full-time coordinator when it handled a controversy over assignment of the title by giving it to county conservationist Julie Lindstrom on an interim basis.

Twidt was criticized for carrying the title of administrative coordinator under an agreement in which he was paid $175 a day when working on administrative duties at the courthouse.

While the same pay agreement remained in place with administrative duties carried out by Twidt as elected chairman of the county board, some continue to oppose the arrangement.

The county board budgeted money in 2012 to hire a coordinator at substantially higher salary along with fringe benefits.

A cost estimate of hiring a coordinator in April was estimated to range from $80,000 to $120,000 a year.
