Winona Middle School students are busy this new school year learning about all things science.

Winona Middle School Principal Mark Anderson says the STEM learning in grades 5th through 8th is popular with students and the 5th graders are currently immersed in learning about earth science, including earthquakes and tornado's.

Anderson says 7th graders are busy learning life science and eco systems and have been studying life forms in ponds around Winona.

Anderson says the students enjoy the ''hands on'' type of learning that STEM gives them and the second year of classes at the school are going well.
