Car Breakins--Juveniles
Winona police said three juvenile males are facing preliminary criminal charges in connection with a series of vehicle breakins that occurred over the last two weekends.
Deputy Police Chief Tom Williams said the two 16 year olds and one 15 year old have each been accused of tampering with a motorvehicle, computer theft, and theft. One is also facing an additional charge of possession of stolen property.
Williams said the mother of one of the juveniles notified police when she discovered some items in the juvenile's bedroom she did not feel belonged there.
Williams said the three are suspected of entering 20 to 30 different vehicles, mostly in the city's east end and in the Winona State University area. The case has been referred to the county attorney's office for determination of formal charges against the three. Authorities recovered a computer and a GPS evice.
