The Winona County Sheriff's Department said a 30 year old Moundsview man was accidently shot by his 10 year old son while the two were squirrel hunting Friday morning in the Whitewater State Park.
Investigator Kraig Glover said Pheng Lor was walking ahead of his son when he was shot in the shoulder. Glover said the son had a 12 gauge rifle slung over his shoulder and was trying to switch it to the other shoulder when the gun accidently discharged.
The two managed to walk out of the woods and to County Road 26 near Elba. They had no cell phone coverage so the boy went to a residence to summon help.
Glover said Lor was taken by the Mayo One medical helicopter to Rochester to be treated for the injury. Glover said the bullet lodged in Lor's shoulder. The boy was not injured. The incident was reported at 9:30 a.m.
