Party Arrests

Winona Police say it took seven law enforcement officers to round up partiers at a Winona residence Friday evening.

Deputy Police Chief Tom Williams said the officers were sent to 577 Souix Street about 10:30 p.m. Friday on a report of a loud party.  They ended citing 64 people for minor consumption.

Williams said officers gave preliminary breath tests to anyone who appeared to be under the age of 21 and intoxicated.  Williams said Minnesota State Patrol officers were called in to help out.  A total of seven officers took part in the investigation.

Williams said as many as 16 other separate drinking arrests were made on Saturday and early Sunday. Those took place mostly on Winona streets and one other loud party where one of those in attendance...a male...was taken to a detox unit after his preliminary breath test was 0.36%, more than four times the legal limit.  Those also involved underage drinkers.

It was homecoming weekend at Winona State University.
