A Minnesota State trooper was injured early Monday when his squad car struck two horses as he was responding to an armed robbery in Northfield.
The Patrol identified the trooper as 37-year-old Stephen Willert of Rochester, Authorities said Willert was responding to an armed robbery after receiving a report of shots fired. His squad car struck the two horses on Highway 57 near Wanamingo.
Willert was taken to St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester for treatment of his non life-threatening injuries. The incident took place just after 3:00 a.m. KTTC TV reports that a 26-year-old Northfield man was arrested later Monday morning in connection with the robbery at a Northfield hotel.
