Wabasha County Negotiations

The Wabasha County Board of Commissioners has decided to seek requests for proposals for outside help in negotiating the county's union contracts for 2014.

The vote was 3-to-2 with Commissioners Mike Wobbe and Rich Hall voting against.  According to the Wabasha County Herald, the board will be seeking information from private legal counsel to help with the contract negotiations with county employees which are expected to begin next spring.

Wobbe said he felt the county had qualified staff to conduct the negotiations. Commissioner Merle Norman, who voted yes, said there will be no cost to the county to  seek the requests for proposals.
