Goodview School third grade teacher Matt Reuter will be honored Tuesday night as the Winona Education Association's 'WEA Hero' at a reception at Signature's Event Center.
Reuter has been recognized by Education Minnesota, the National Education Association, and Governor Mark Dayton for his work in helping to change a state law that will benefit educators who serve in the military.
Thanks to Reuter, and state legislature, teachers who serve in the military will no longer have to help pay their substitute's salary while the teacher is on active duty.
In addition to the honor to be given to Matt Reuter, Winona's new Teacher of the Year, announced last week, Lori Carlson, will also be honored at the reception.
Carlson is an orchestra and string teacher at the Winona Middle School where she has taught for ten years.....
