Planning and Environmental Services Director Jason Gilman told the County Board his department, and the State Environmental Quality Board, both will correct an error in the EAW documents for the two permit requests making the county the Responsible Governmental Unit overseeing the EAWs and the official place where public comments are accepted not the Pollution Control Agency.
Gilman said the change will mean that the EAWs will need to be republished and a new 30 day public comment period established pushing the comment deadline to sometime near the end of December instead of November 14th. Commissioner Marcia Ward acknowledged the mistake which needs to corrected for liability reasons.
The EAWs were submitted for for the Dablestein and Yoder properties. Once the new comment period ends the documents will go to the County Planning Commission for a recommendation. The County Board will then make the final decision on issuing permits for the operations. Still to be determined is whether public comments the county already received will stay, or new comments required.
