Winona County Commissioners continued their discussion on how to use the 4-point-6 million dollars in 2007 flood reimbursements saying they want to stabilize future county property tax levies.
The discussion centered around 1.5 million dollars of the reimbursement that was placed into the capital improvement fund and earmarked for funding county programs related to law enforcement and crime prevention, as well as other programs.
Commissioner Jim Pomeroy said he wants to make sure the overall money is used for stabilizing the future property tax levies.
County Administrator Duane Hebert said decisions on how the remaining 3.1 million dollars in flood reimbursement funds will be used will be made by the board in the future....
