MN43 Bridge Project Moving Forward

The Minnesota Department of Transportation will be in Winona next month to discuss how the Highway 43 bridge project moves forward...in particular the municipal consent process that's needed for the city council to officially sign off on the propsed two bridge solution.

The bridge project advisory committee will meet in mid-December with MnDOT officials and representatives of SRF Consulting...that's the private firm working with the state of Minnesota on the project to improve Winona's river crossing.

If the state is ready to pursue local consent for the project that should mean more specifics should be becoming available.  Among the larget unknowns so far is exactly how much property will need to be taken to make way for a second bridge.  A significant number of properties along both Fourth and Winona streets are expected to be impacted by both bridge construction and intersection improvements.
