Beer Tent Move

The Steamboat Days beer tent may be on the move next year.

The Winona City Council will be presented with a request from the Steamboat Festival Association on Monday to move the beer tent from east Levee Park to the  city parking lot at Second and Center Streets.

Association President Chris Strub, according to the council's agenda, says the move would allow for a bigger tent that would accommodate both the entertainment stage and beverage serving areas. Costs for the move are still bing considered.

A full proposal for the 2013 Steamboat Days Festival will be submitted next spring. The festival will run from June 19th to the 23rd, 2013.

The council meets Monday at 6:30 p.m. at City Hall.

The council will also be asked to appoint its newest member right away instead of waiting until January.

Pamela Eyden won election in the third ward on November 6th, for the seat that was held by Deb Salyards who passed away last summer.
