The Winona Area Public School District will need to reduce expenses by an estimated $1,675,000 over the course of the 2014, 2015 and 2016 budgets.
Fiscal Director Dan Pyan told the board the budget forecast factors in the declining enrollment figures in the district, which means less revenues.
Board chair Greg Fellman noted that while the board has it's work cut out for them reducing spending, it's not nearly as big as the cuts they had to make a few years ago.
The board is looking at making about $1,160,000 in budget cuts for the 2013 school budget, which would leave an estimated fund balance of just over $6,939,000. That would be 18.15 percent of their total budget, which is over the 16.6-percent the board has set as a goal.
