One is a request from the Steamboat Days Festival Committee to move the beer tent from its longtime location in East Levee Park during Steamboat Days to the city parking lot at Second and Main. The second is a request from a number of people and organizations to be able to serve wine and beer that is more than the currently allowed 3.2% alcohol content.
The affect of altering the current city ordinance would be to allow non-profit organizations to serve a larger variety of beer and wines at fundraisers. Minnesota is one of the few states remaining that still has a 3.2% liquor law and many beers are not brewed at less than 3.2% anymore.
The council will also be asked to appoint Pamala Eyden as the new Third Ward councilmember immediately instead of waiting until January for her to take office. The meeting starts at 6:30 p.m. at City Hall.
