Pelowski has been named the new chair of the House Higher Education Committee and told a Winona Radio audience that meeting the request from both entities will be next to impossible. Each system is asking for $100,000,000 increases when the state is facing a three to four billion dollar deficit.
Pelowski said he hopes for a 2013 session similar to 1997 and 1998 when he chaired the Higher Ed Committee and worked with then Governor Arne Carlson..
Pelowski also said his committee will take its time reviewing the requests and even visit the campuses before making any final decisions.
