Railroad Project

The Winona City Council received an update Monday on the improvement projects scheduled for a pair of railroad crossings along Wall Street.

The Canadian Pacific Railroad will be improving crossings on the intersections of 2nd street and 3rd street.

Assistant City Manager for Public Works, Keith Nelson, says the project will begin and be completed next summer.

The railroad has made improvements the past two years at the intersection crossings at 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th and 9th streets.

The estimated portion of the city's cost for rubber crossing material and asphalt is $35,000 with CP Rail paying for labor and all materials related to improvements between streets.

The project will be paid for from the Street Reconstruction fund.
