Counterfeit Money--Winona

Rochester police say two of the four suspects arrested last Saturday in connection with an alleged counterfeit money operation are from Winona.

The four were arrested after Rochester officers went to a residence to serve an outstanding warrant and noticed some suspicious activity inside.  The two from Winona, according to KTTC TV, were identified as Misty Peterson and Denis Richardson, both 27-years-old.

Winona authorities said local police searched a Winona residence this week and obtained some possible evidence in the case.  The other two suspects were identified as 29-year-old Lamar McCain of Rochester and 23-year-old Trahem Pollard of Riverdale, Illinois.

Police found over $5900 in counterfeit 20 dollar bills at the Rochester residence. Officers also seized some $14,000 in uncut counterfeit bills from the residence.  All four are facing felony counts of possessing and printing phony money.

Police have said they suspect that the counterfeit money may have been used in several different cities in southeastern Minnesota.  Some may have also turned up in Winona.
