Frac EAWs
The Winona County Planning and Environmental Services Department is continuing its second review of two proposed frac sand mine operations in Saratoga Township after an error last month was discovered in the first process.
The county was forced to take the second look at the environmental assessment worksheets that were submitted for the Yoder and Dabblestein proposals, and Planning and Environmental Services Director, Jason Gilman says it's hoped that review can be completed by December 17th.
Gilman said when the review is completed it would set in motion another 30 day public comment period which would start on December 24th, and last until January 23rd. When the entire review process is completed the issue would then go before the County Planning Commission for a public hearing and a recommendation to the County Board.
The County Board makes the final decision on issuing permits for the two frac sand operations.
