The board had previously talked about a possible 3% reduction from the 2012 levy but commissioner Jim Pomeroy suggested they could give more back to the taxpayers.
Board chair, Mena Kaehler, said the fact the county has enough reserves they can propose a 6-percent levy reduction is a good sign that cost saving changes being made are working.
Staff will bring back the adjusted figures at the next meeting, December 11th.
Prior to the regular meeting, the board held a closed-door meeting to conduct an evaluation of County Administrator Duane Hebert's (AY'-bares) job performance. As per law, the board will comment on the closed meeting at it's next public meeting.
