Presents in Vehicles

Winona police are reminding shoppers not to leave Christmas presents in their vehicles where they can be seen and stolen.

Police Sargent Chris Nelson says either place the packages in a locked trunk or keep them in your home.  Leaving wrapped Christmas presents in a vehicle where they can  be seen invites theft, according to Nelson. And many families have had their holiday seasons spoiled in the past when their presents were stolen.

In addition, don't leave purses or billfolds in plain view in a vehicle when they also can be stolen even if the vehicle's doors are locked.
