Wabasha County Board members will take a final vote on December 11th, on a plan to cut their own salaries by $7,000 in 2013.
Board members voted 3-to-2 in a preliminary vote to include the salary reduction in their 2013 budget. That budget will come up for final approval on December 11th.
The commissioners currently are paid $17,000 a year with the board chair getting an extra 500-dollars.
The proposal is to reduce the salaries to $10,000 a year.
By comparison, Winona County Commissioners make just under $24,000 a year. They decided to freeze their salaries again in 2013.
Winona County's budget is about twice that of Wabasha County's budget.
