Winona State Wins Bowl Game

The Winona State football team finished their season Saturday with a convincing 41-21 victory over Lindenwood University in the Mineral Water Bowl in Excelsior Springs, Missouri. The Warriors racked up 597 yards of total offense and set the school record for most yards in a season with 5,779 total yards. Running back Rayon Simmons closed out his tremendous career in style with 188 yards rushing and 68 yards receiving. Simmons, who was named the game’s Most Valuable Player, also scored a touchdown. Simmons finishes his Winona State career with a school record 5,256 yards rushing and he set the school’s single season rushing record this season with 1,784 yards.
Quarterback John Teigland(Tag-lund) lit up Lindenwood through the air throwing for 303 yards and 3 touchdowns. Senior Tyler Speer caught two of Teigland’s three touchdown passes. Winona State finishes the season 10-2.
