WSHS Orchestra Auction

The silent auction held prior to Thursday evenings Winona Senior High School Orchestra concert at the high school was a big success.

Jenny McHugh, who is a volunteer with the non profit organization Strings in Motion, says the event raised $1,300 this year, up a couple of hundred dollars from last year.

McHugh, who has several children in orchestra, says parents as well as various organizations like the Great River Shakespeare Festival and the Beethoven Festival donate items for the silent auction.

The funds are used throughout the year for expenses and to help defray the cost of the New York City trip the orchestra takes every other year.
