Winona High Boys Set Three-Point Record In Season Opener
Paul Van Beek Reporting
The Winona High boys’ basketball team opened up the season in a big way Tuesday night firing away from outside in a 91-32 win over Kasson-Mantorville. The Winhawks set the school record for three-pointers in a game knocking down thirteen of them. The impressive part of the accomplishment was the fact that Will Leaf, who set the school record for three-pointers in a season last year with 75, hit just one last night. Winona High hit 10 of their 13 threes in the first half as they raced out to a 58-18 halftime lead.
Brandon Gamoke led the way with 16 points on 6 of 9 shooting from deep. Hunter Kruse added 13 points and Chance Bechley had 12 points in his first game in nearly three years.
