The Winona County Sheriff's Department says a convicted sex offender living in Winona was jailed Thursday after he failed to provide updated information on his whereabouts.
                
Chief Deputy Ron Ganrude said the case has been forwarded to the county attorney's office to see if criminal charges are warranted against 36 year old Richard Lee Montgomery.
               
Ganrude said Montgomery is alleged to have failed to notify local authorities and the state's Predatory Offender Registry of his change of address on October 31st, as required by his conviction. Montgomery is also alleged to have failed to provide other required information.
               
Ganrude said Montgomery told authorities he thought he had been taken off the list because he had completed his probation.
