Animal Rescue

No charges have been filed yet in the rescue of 55 horses, ponies, and donkeys from a Fillmore County farm on November 29th,

Authorities said the animals were taken from the farm after they were found malnourished and suffering from untreated wounds.

KTTC TV reports the Fillmore County Attorney's Office is still investigating the case that involved a farm located near LeRoy-Ostrander.

The identity of the owner has not been released.

The TV station reported that a family friend said the owner himself was a long-time rescuer and had been in the hospital for several days after becoming injured in an accident.

Many of the animals have since been spoken for while some were taken by the Minnesota Hooved Animal Rescue Foundation to be treated.

Authorities said at least four of the animals had to be euthanized.
