Winona County Board members are expected to certify the county's 2013 property tax levy and set the final 2013 budget when they meet Tuesday morning at the County Government Center at 9:00 a.m. The board, on November 27th, approved a preliminary 2013 levy that reflected a 6% decrease from the 2012 levy.
The board will also hear an update from the county's Director of Planning and Environmental Services, Jason Gilman, on Environmental Assessment Worksheets being prepared for three different proposed frac sand mining operations in Saratoga Township. Two of the EAWs had to be reviewed a second time due to an oversight by the Planning Department.
The board will also make public the results of an earlier performance review given to County Administrator Duane Hebert. In addition, the board will discuss what they want to do about replacing the retired County Auditor-Treasure Sue Rivers. The board last month appointed current County Finance Director Pat Moga to oversee that department until a decision on the replacement is made.
