Sand Mine Permit Hearing
The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources has scheduled a public hearing in Whitehall for December 20th, for an application by Preferred Sands, LLC, to operate a sand processing facility near Blair.
The DNR has made a preliminary determination that the application meets Wisconsin state and federal air pollution control requirements and that the permit should be approved.
The DNR says this type of proposal normally does not have the potential to cause significant adverse environmental effects so the DNR has not prepared an environmental assessment for the proposal. The DNR is accepting written public comments on the proposal now and will seek public testimony at the public hearing on December 20th, which will be held at the Trempealeau County Courthouse in Whitehall at 2:00 p.m.
