Alternate Side Parking

Better make sure you park on the proper side of the street overnight now that the City of Winona has experienced first snowfall of the winter season.

Early this Monday police issued 54 tickets for vehicles parked on the wrong side of the street overnight.  No vehicles were towed away, but if the city were to declare a tag and towing operation, vehicles on the wrong side of the street would be towed.

Remember the alternate side parking ordinance is enforced between 12:01 a.m. and 6:30 a.m. each morning. Be sure to park your vehicle on the even side of the street on the even-numbered dates and on the odd side of the street on the odd-numbered dates.

Meanwhile, Winona Police investigated 8 traffic crashes during the Sunday snow storm but none of them had injuries.  The Winona County Sheriff's Department investigated one crash in the Stockton area with no injuries. However, Sheriff Dave Brand said there were a lot of vehicles in the ditches.

Remember to slow down and drive according to the road and weather conditions.
