Another Winona American Red Cross volunteer has been deployed to the East Coast to help in the aftermath of Superstorm Sandy.
Julie Schoener of Winona is leaving for New York on Tuesday (today) to assist in client casework. She will evaluate the remaining needs, provide service, and maintain records for clients who have suffered losses related to the storm.
She is expected to be in New York for at least two weeks. Schoener has been deployed several times before, including to Hurricane Katrina and to Alabama after tornadoes hit there a year ago.
The storm, which devastated large portions of the Northeast over a month ago, has required the biggest Red Cross response in the U.S. in the past five years,
