Winona State running back Rayon Simmons has been named a first team all-american by the American Football Coaches Association. Simmons set the Winona State single season rushing record with 1,774 yards while also scoring 19 touchdowns. He averaged 147.8 yards per game which ranked third in Division II. The senior reached 100 yards on the ground in nine of WSU’s twelve games while running for at least 175 yards seven times. Simmons is the only running back in school history to run for 1,000 yards in three consecutive seasons. Simmons is the fifth Warrior to earn first team AFCA All-American honors since 2002 joining Kevin Curtin, Chris Samp and John Tackmann.
