Winona High Boys Win on Last Second Shot



The Winona High boys’ basketball team pulled out a buzzer beater Monday against Holmen. Blake Watts hit a three-pointer at the buzzer to give the Winhawks a 68-67 non-conference win over the Vikings. The final three-pointer was one of eleven threes in the game for Winona High, who put four players in double figures. Will Leaf led the way with 17 points including five three-pointers. Chance Bechly and Brandon Gamoke both had 11 points and Watts added 10. Winona High improves to 3-1 on the season and their next game is at home on Thursday against Red Wing.

The Cochrane-Fountain City girls got by Black River Falls 44-41. Laura Kramer had 16 points for the Pirates and Nicole Hunger added 12. C-FC moves to 3-2 on the season.
