Heavy Equipment Move

Some pretty heavy equipment will be blocking a portion of Highway 61 for a short time for two days this week.

CPI Binani Inc. is having a 5,000 ton molding press moved in two pieces from a rail site on McConnon Drive near Pelzer Street to it's site across town on Wilkie Drive.

Company President Ron Hawley says the truck carrying the press will have an escort Tuesday  and Wednesday morning and is wide enough both lanes will have to closed sometime between 8:00 a.m. and 9:00 a.m.

Hawley says the total press weighs one-million and a-quarter pounds and had to shipped by rail from Michigan.

CPI Binani makes molded composite parts for the automotive and other industries.

Hawley says the press was needed to make parts for a client and it will be ready to operate in July of 2013. He says there are 14 semi truck trailers loaded and ready to deliver the rest of the press parts to Winona.
