The Red Wing Schools went into a district-wide "external lock down" Wednesday after receiving a threat on Tuesday and after a student found some 22 caliber ammunition on a school bus.
Red Wing Police said a high school student reported receiving a call on her home phone Tuesday afternoon stating "your school is next."
The second report of ammunition prompted the Red Wing Schools to go into the external lock down meaning the external access to the schools was being monitored and controlled.
Police issued a press release saying that shortly after the lock down was announced a student came forward and reported that the ammunition found on the bus was his, and that he had forgotten they were in his jacket from hunting...confirming the bus activity was unrelated to the Tuesday threat. Police were continuing their investigation of the Tuesday threat.
