School Board

The Winona Area Public School Board voted unanimously to certify its 2013 property tax levy Thursday.

The levy levy will be going down by about 8%, which amounts to about $980,000. The reduced levy should save district residents roughly $80 a year on a $200,000 home.

The board also officially recognized outgoing board members Michelle Langowski, Gary Shurson, and Greg Fellman, who attended their final meeting.

Langowski says she thinks the district has enjoyed good growth in her time on the board.

Shurson said he had learned a lot and enjoyed his time on the board and is proud of the accomplishments of the board, including helping to improve the district's financial situation.

Fellman said he was happy the board, administration and community seem to bew on the same page and thanked the community for supporting the district.

The three did not seek re-election and three new members will fill their seats starting in January.
