Winona County Sheriff Dave Brand says a suspect in a shooting in Preston in Fillmore County has been apprehended in Winona County after a high speed chase.
                
Brand said the male suspect's vehicle was stopped by Winona County authorities about 1:45 p.m.on County Road 12 , one mile east of Wilson.

Deputies surrounded the vehicle and were able to apprehend him.

Brand said the man was involved in a standoff with authorities and was in possession of a nine millimeter pistol.
   
Brand said he was told the suspect shot a female in the neck in Preston but the female is expected to survive.

He had no other details.

The Fillmore County Sheriff's Department said Preston schools went into a lockdown for a time as precaution but the shooting did not involve them..
