The suspect in a Preston shooting on Friday, who ended up being apprehended in Winona County following a standoff, has been identified.  The Fillmore County Sheriff's Department identified the man as 39 year old Roger James Bergman of Canton.
                   
Bergman was apprehended near Wilson Friday afternoon after he led authorities on a chase that started in Rushford when his vehicle was spotted by a Rushford officer.  He is believed to have shot a 49 year old woman in the neck at a Preston home.
                  
The woman was undergoing surgery at  Rochester hospital on Sunday and her immediate condition was not released. Her identity was also being withheld.
                  
Winona County authorities said the standoff along County Road 12 lasted about 30 minutes before Bergman exited his vehicle.  A gun was found inside the vehicle.

Bergman was expected to make his initial appearance in Fillmore County District Court Monday.
