The Buffalo County Sheriff's Department is seeking permission to rent space on a Minnesota Department of Transportation radio transmission tower located near Rollingstone.
                    
According to the Cochrane-Fountain City Recorder government- mandated use of narrow band radio frequencies has reduced the sheriff's department radio coverage in Buffalo County by some 30 percent.
                   
Sheriff Mike Schmidtknecht said the use of the Mn-DOT tower would improve communications between squad cars and the dispatch center in Alma, especially in southern Buffalo County.
                   
The Buffalo County Board is being asked to supply up to 33-thousand dollars for equipment and and installation at the Rollingstone tower.
