The 27th annual Lewiston Auto/Warrior Club Holiday Basketball Tournament began yesterday and the first game of the day may have been the most exciting one. The Hope Lutheran boys pulled out a 58-51 win in overtime over Mabel-Canton to open up the tournament. Hope Lutheran’s Jason Klug scored on a layup with two seconds left in regulation to send the game into overtime. Klug took over in overtime and scored six of the Patriots’ nine points as Hope Lutheran outscored Mabel-Canton 9-2 in OT. Klug finished with 26 points and 11 rebounds while Brady Meyer had 14 points and 10 rebounds.
The Hope Lutheran girls used a big second half to pull out a close win 44-42 over Mabel-Canton. The Patriots scored just eleven points in the first half and trailed 17-11 at halftime before outscoring Cougars 33-25 in the second half. Dakota Ellinghuysen led Hope Lutheran with 16 points.
