Winter Crop Days

Farmers in southeastern Minnesota have a chance to hear from ag experts this month at a special event.

The University of Minnesota, Southern Research and Outreach Center (SROC) annual Winter Crops Days is coming to five locations, including Caledonia.

Producers, farm managers, ag consultants and salespeople, or others interested in learning more about environmentally sustainable practices for ag production can attend Wednesday, January 16th at the Good Times Restaurant in Caledonia.

The event will feature the crop year in review and a summary of  what role the 2012 weather had on crop production and how the dry fall conditions may impact the 2013 crop.

There will also be a discussion on variety selection, cutting management, winter survival and replant decisions for alfalfa producers.

Cost for the event is $35 and includes morning refreshments, lunch and handout materials. Registration begins at 8:30 a.m. and the program runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
