Sheriff Program

Four sheriff's department employees in Union County, New Jersey, who were personally impacted by Hurricane Sandy two months ago, are having an easier time thanks to 54 Wisconsin sheriff's departments, including the Trempealeau County department.

Sheriff Richard Anderson says the Wisconsin departments...part of the Badger State Sheriff's Association... donated  $36,300 to the four officers in New Jersey as part of an effort called 'Sheriffs Adopting Sheriffs.'

Anderson his department alone contributed $850 to the fundraiser.
Each of the four deputies and their families received 9,074 from the funds raised in Wisconsin.

Anderson said usually assistance to sheriffs departments is provided in the form of sending personnel and equipment to disaster areas.

This time it was cash.
