City Council

The Winona City Council meets next Monday, January 7th, and it’s first agenda of 2013 is a light one.

The council will vote on a Joint Powers Agreement (JPA) for Law Enforcement Mutual Assistance for Buffalo County, Wisconsin, Winona County and the City of Winona.

The JPA allows law enforcement officers from all three jurisdictions to provide emergency assistance when requested. The JPA replaces the previous agreement which was signed in 1994.

The council will also vote on a new agreement between Animal Control Division and Winona Area Humane Society.

In other new business, the council will select a president pro-tem, who in the event of absence or disability of the mayor, would serve as temporary mayor. The city charter requires the vote every two years, at the first council meeting in January following a municipal election.

The meeting starts at 6:30 p.m. next Monday at City Hall and is open to the public.
