Winona High Girls Slow Down Rochester Century, Boys Fall in OT

The Winona High girls’ basketball team shut down Rochester Century offensively and beat the Panthers 52-34. The Winhawks used a tough 1-3-1 half court trap to force 28 turnovers and the 34 points were the least amount of points the Winhawks have given up this season.
Ellen Blacklock finished with a double-double with 19 points and 13 rebounds as Winona High improves to 4-6 overall and 3-2 in the Big Nine Conference. The Winhawks have won 4 of their last 5 games.
The Winona High boys lost in overtime to Rochester Century 64-58. The Winhawks had balanced scoring as Brandon Gamoke and Will Leaf both scored 11 points and Dan Schwartz and Jeff Schultz added 10 each. Winona High drops to 5-5 overall and 2-2 in the Big Nine Conference.
