Winona's new mayor, Mark Peterson, was sworn in Monday night preceeding the City Council meeting.Peterson thanked his predecessor, Jerry Miller, and said he looks forward to his new role.
New at-large councilman Paul Double, newly elected Third Ward councilperson Pamela Eide and First Ward incumbent Al Thurley were also sworn in Monday.
City Manager Judy Bodway announced the city had been turned down for a grant from the Minnesota DNR 's Trails and Legacy Grant for the proposed bike path.
In other business, the council approved a Joint Powers Agreement for Law Enforcement Mutual Assistance for Buffalo County, Winona County and the City of Winona. The agreement allows law enforcement officers from all three jurisdictions to provide emergency assistance when requested.
