Winona High Boys and Girls Get Big Wins Over Owatonna

The Winona High boys’ basketball team handed Owatonna their first Big Nine Conference loss last night winning 67-65 in overtime. Dan Schwartz led the way with 18 points and 10 rebounds while Will Leaf finished with 16 points. Brandon Gamoke also added a double-double for the Winhawks with 12 points and 15 rebounds as Winona High improves to 3-2 in the Big Nine Conference and 6-6 overall.
The Winona High girls beat Owatonna last night 55-47. The Huskies had been tied for first place in the Big Nine Conference before the Winhawks knocked them off. Audrey Scharmer led Winona High in scoring with 14 points and Dulcey Milek added 11 points. Ellen Blacklock also had 11 points and blocked 7 shots. Winona High is now 4-2 in the Big Nine Conference and 5-6 overall.
