Wabasha County Administrator

The Wabasha County Board of Commissioners will get its first formal look, January 22nd, at a study commission's report calling for a return to the county administrator form of government.

The County Government Study Commission's final report recommends that a county administrator be hired instead of a county coordinator. The report, according to the Wabasha County Herald, also recommends that a professional executive fill the county administrator position .

The commission will make a presentation of the report at the board's January 22nd meeting.

A three person majority voted to drop the county administrator position in 2011 and terminate then administrator Dave Johnson's contract. In 2012 a county coordinator was hired to replace Johnson.

The special county commission is recommending the shift back to the county administrator be approved as soon as possible.
